Documentary: A Syrian Love Story (IDFA 2015)

This raw, shocking family saga is set against the backdrop of the Syrian civil war as it tears a family apart. Filmed over five years, A Syrian Love Story, provides a frighteningly powerful insight into what it means to be on the run.

Palestinian freedom fighter Amer and Syrian activist Raghda fell in love in a Syrian prison. On their release they married and started a family. In 2009, Raghda is once more jailed as a political prisoner. When she is unexpectedly released, the Syrian Revolution is in full swing. The subsequent civil war has an enormous impact on the family.

Trough the unpolished and dynamic style of filmmaking of British film director Sean McAllister, A Syrian Love Story provides a painfully intimate view of the impact of the Syrian war and refugee life on one marriage
