From Field to Fashion

Around 30 million people work in the textile industry worldwide, producing cheap clothing in dire circumstances for marginal wages. More than 1,100 people died when Rana Plaza, a commercial building housing several garment factories, collapsed in Bangladesh in April 2013. Before it even arrives at the workshops the production of cotton causes environmental harm with its extensive water usage, pesticides and chemical fertilisers. Can we produce and consume humane and fair fashion? How can we raise more awareness of this long and complicated supply chain of cotton and textile?
