Jan Pronk

According to Pronk International Cooperation is no longer based on solidarity for countries, populations and groups which are excluded by the capitalist system; a commercial and economic idea of International and Development Cooperation is emerging. Jan Pronk will share his view on these ongoing changes, the role and future of International and Development Cooperation. The discussion will be led by Alies Rijper, Advisor Resilience & Disaster Risk Reduction at ICCO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

About Jan Pronk

Jan Pronk was minister  in four governments. He worked more than thirty years for the Labor Party (PvdA) and was three times Minister for Development Cooperation. He was Special Representative to the Secretary General of the United Nations in Sudan and Head of the United Nations Peace Mission in Sudan (UNMIS). Currently he is Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague.
