Lecture judge International Court of Justice

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations is located in the Peace Palace in The Hague. It settles disputes between states in accordance with international law and advises on international legal matters. The recent judgment in the Chilean- Peruvian border case in 2014 has for instance prevented the possibility of an escalation of the dispute over maritime borders.  Judge Julia Sebutinde elucidates on how the International Court of Justice promotes international peace and justice.
