‘Une saison en France’ is a touching movie about the single father Abbas. He flees from Africa with his children and tries to build a new life in France. He falls in love with a French woman and has a job at a greengrocer, but slowly it becomes painfully clear that Abbas and his children are not welcome anywhere.
Une saison en France is a heartbreaking story by Chadian director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun. Last year, he won the Golden Butterfly award at the Movies that Matter Festival for his documentary Hissein Habré, a Chadian tragedy.
About the speaker
After the movie we will talk with Eric van den Boom from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) about the situation and residency of undocumented migrants. Eric van den Boom is a ‘return-counselor’ and works with migrants who consider returning to their countries of origin. But how is their safe return being monitored, and what are the success stories of returnees?
